COVID-19 Update/Fully Remote Day, Friday

There has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 in our BFUHS Community.  This information came to our attention at the very end of the school day today.  The contagious period for this included the last two days of school, which were fully remote days.  Therefore, it is unlikely that there are many or any close contacts within the school building during the contagious period.  We are working with the Vermont Department of Health to very precisely define who might be close contacts.  Any staff member or student who falls into the category of close contact will receive a phone call from our school nurse to provide guidance on the proper next steps. If you do not receive a call from our nurse this evening, then you are not under consideration as a close contact to this individual.  The name and status of the case will remain confidential to protect the HIPAA rights around medical issues of the individual involved.  They are following the appropriate follow-up steps, are working with the health department, and will only return to school once they are symptom free without medication.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Bellows Falls Union High School will not be open to in-person learning tomorrow, Friday, April 9, but will hold classes in our fully remote mode of operation, following our Early Release Day schedule.  There will be no after school activities or practices.  Practices for most teams will continue on Saturday, April 10.  Student athletes should expect to be contacted by their coaches for the details on their practice times on Saturday.

Thank you,

Christopher Hodsden, Principal
