Proficiency-Based Grading System
In addition to traditional grades, students will also be assessed using proficiency indicators. Each of the foreign language classes operates using the same PBGRs, but standards for what is considered proficient in each area will differ according to the level of the class (i.e. I, II, III, IV).
Students will be required to demonstrate proficiency in four areas in order to pass each course. These are: interpersonal communication, interpretive communication, presentational communication, and cultural literacy. Students will have multiple opportunities to demonstrate level-appropriate proficiencies in these areas over the course of each semester and will be able to make up assignments to show improved proficiency in areas of need.
