WNESU’s policy on GRADE ADVANCEMENT: RETENTION, PROMOTION & ACCELERATION OF STUDENTS states that school attendance may be reviewed when school teams are considering retention as being in a student’s best interest. In instances where students meet the definitional criteria for truancy (defined as 20 or more unexcused absences), and interventions/supports offered by the school have been refused or not engaged with, Building Administrators and school teams may consider students for grade retention as outlined in WNESU policy.
